Jesus, in the Center Again and Always

“And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” - Revelation 5:6

In the beginning, the entire created order was in harmony with her Maker. For those beings with broader and grander creative intelligence and wills, human and angels, love for God was supreme and love for one another was confiding and unselfish.

The Lamb was in all and through all.

Who is this Lamb? Who is this special One that embodies the entire kingdom of God even the fullness of the Godhead? How great must He be?

When Jesus is in the center of all things, all is as it should be. Life is made right. This is how the Creator of all designed life should be—that Jesus should be lifted up.

In this passage the risen Lamb is in His rightful place, honored and exalted as the center of the Universe. He is in the midst of the throne, the four living creatures, the elders, and on Him is the Spirit of God in fullness. He is victorious over death. He has all power and wisdom. All life is in His hands.

Yet how often do we let this glorious One, the living and loving Jesus, fall by the wayside? This was the beginning of our fall. Humanity allowed the serpent to shift Jesus to the side. And sadly, if we’re honest, we allow this every day.

But though we let Him fall out of the center of our lives, Jesus is risen still! This is the truth—that He is alive forevermore! And as the Risen Lamb, He can remove the old serpent and takes His rightful place in our lives.

“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” - Revelation 12:9

Jesus bought us back. This battle was costly, but He wins.

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” - Revelation 12:10

Love for God is rekindled, faith in Him brought back, trust in God’s Covenant is restored. This is Jesus in the center.

Everyday Jesus knocks on our hearts door. He who is the center of the universe is still gentle and lowly in heart. He will never break the door down, but by a still small voice His Spirit calls.

“And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:11-12

This is the way of Jesus, the still small voice of the wounded Lamb. Is He powerful and could he break the door down like a lion? Yes. But He won’t and He never will.

Jesus won the battle through loving self-sacrifice, and He will daily seek to win your heart and mine to His love; never force it, never take it, but awaken it to love by His love alone.

If we do not resist, Jesus can and will be the center of our lives once again. We will be restored. We will be ready for that place called heaven, New Jerusalem, for we will have the spirit of heaven, that is Jesus Himself, in our hearts.

He is coming soon!
